BBC Traitors star Kieran apologises for ‘mocking disabled and Chinese people’ in clip

The Traitors star Kieran Tompsett has apologised after clips of him mocking Chinese and disabled people resurfaced.

The BBC contestant, 42, could be seen in one video pretending to ‘sing’ in a faux ‘Chinese’ accent, before using the R slur while pulling a face.

One video, titled ‘Winding up my wife! S**t singing lessons’ saw Kieran turn to his wife and ask: “Right, are you going to join in with me for Chinese singing today, babe?”

He later told his wife: “Your turn!” – and she could be heard singing her own version of the ‘song’. Kieran then snapped: “That’s not the line, is it babe? If you’re gonna learn Chinese, you’re gonna learn it properly!”

In another clip, titled ‘Kieran the r****d’, he could be heard saying: “You’re all beautiful, stay strong everybody.”

Kieran then could be seen pulling a face which tugged his mouth to the side of his face, as he said: “I’m r******d, you talking about me?”

Now Kieran has apologised “unreservedly” for his actions, branding them “absolutely not acceptable”.

Speaking to MailOnline, Kieran explained: “Those two videos are from seven years ago. I was trying out a new lip sync app that was really popular at the time and was supposed to be fun. The thing is, it’s not funny.

“It is absolutely not acceptable. It certainly doesn’t represent who I am. I am a family man, I teach my children good values and I want to set an example to them.”

He explained that he is “working hard” to get the videos removed from a “historic and inactive” account, which is currently “inaccessible” to him.

Kieran added: “I apologise unreservedly for any offence caused.”

Kieran was the first to be voted out in the final of The Traitors, after turning on his fellow traitor Wilfred Webster.

Offering some parting words on his Instagram account, Kieran encouraged people to “be kind” after the game show wrapped.

He said: “t was a game, we played, we laughed, we cried, we got angry, we got upset! But what we also got, was friends for life and great TV.

“Remember, we played this, you watched it! We are all happy you loved it! Be kind to everyone who was in it. Merry Christmas.”
