Piers Morgan has asked Elon Musk to step in and help after his Twitter account was hacked – but appears to have won little sympathy from fellow social media users.
A message purporting to be from the broadcaster’s “Uncensored” account contains the wording: “In case you were wondering, @piersmorgan has been hacked. Any chance of getting him back, @elonmusk?”
Earlier this year Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX entrepreneur, spent some $44billion (£37billion) on the long-delayed purchase of Twitter.

Since he took the reins at the end of October, Twitter has laid off many of its workforce, launched a widely-derided premium service which enabled any user to buy one of the coveted “blue tick” verification badges and seen a surge in trolling and hate speech.
Musk this month promised to “abide by” the results of a poll asking whether he should quit as the social network’s boss – with well over half of users saying he should.
In the wake of Morgan’s request, Twitter users have been responding. One said: “Now if someone could interview him about it and smile as he cries then it would all be complete,” while another added: “Any idea who’s hacked you Piers? I can see some big conspiracy theories surrounding this event. Have you fallen out with anyone recently?”
Other users made comments including: “Told him to stop using the password Meghan1,” “Please leave him hacked Elon,” “If you do something good during your tenure as CEO, keep him away!” “After such a difficult year, what a way to finish the year, bringing a smile to the UK public,” and “Do we REALLY need him back?”

A fellow Twitter follower pointed out: “It’s ok, he’s got control back now,” to which another responded by saying: “Control of what.”
However, advice included: “Sounds like you need to review your password complexity and ensure you have 2fa enabled so that no-one can gain access to your account by simply cracking your password.”
