Coronation Street star Saira Choudhry engaged after celebrating anniversary

Coronation Street actress Saira Choudhry announced her engagement to partner Marcus Jackson on New Year’s Eve.

The soap star, 40, got engaged to her businessman beau 23 years they first met and couldn’t hide her delight at heading into their “next chapter.”

The star, who starred as journalist Naila in Corrie, took to Instagram with the exciting news via a sweet snap alongside her husband-to-be.

The brunette beauty penned: “I said yesss. Mrs Jackson it is then. love you @jaxson_2013 Met you 23 years ago.”

Later sharing a snap of her stunning engagement ring, she added: “Who knew our journey would lead us here. Here’s to our next chapter.”

As the pair posed in front of Edinburgh Castle, a number of Saira’s fans flocked to the comments to congratulate her on their happy news.

One user gushed: “ Congratulations to you both. Happy New Years and enjoy Edinburgh tonight.” While another said: “All the joy and happiness to you both. How exciting.”

“Wow ! Amazing news congratulations to you . Looking beautiful . Happy New Year,” added a second.

Echoing these thoughts, another penned: “Many congratulations to you, wish you all the best on the exciting journey ahead.”

“Super congratulations! Really happy for you both,” commented a fourth.

The former soap star portrayed schoolgirl Anita Roy in Hollyoaks for four years between 2008 and 2012 and also appeared in TV shows such as No Offence, Life and Cold Feet.

Saira’s exciting news comes shortly after her fellow Corrie star Rebecca Ryan announced she is expecting her first child with husband Dan Acraman.

The 31-year-old soap star, who plays the role of Lydia Chambers in the ITV soap, could be seen cradling her blossoming baby bump as she posed up a storm beside her Christmas tree.

The star captioned the memorable post: “I thought this year couldn’t get any better after marrying the man of my dreams. “Turns out it can, can’t wait to become a mummy in 2023.”
