Coronation Street icon reveals she's six months pregnant with name linked to ITV soap

Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine has announced she is expecting her third child in just three months.

The star who is known for playing Fiz Stape on the hit ITV soap beamed with joy as she cradled her blossoming baby bump in a collection of new snaps.

Jennie, 38, is already mum to son Albert, eight, and daughter Hilda, four, with her husband Chris Farr and has already thought of names with a link to the show she found fame on.

Her pregnancy came unexpectedly as Jennie explained the family of four were on a camping trip when she initially began feeling nauseous.

Putting two and two together, the former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star revealed that her symptoms felt extremely similar to her previous two pregnancies.

Jennie later took a test and discovered she was around five weeks into her third pregnancy.

Sharing her news with OK! Magazine, Jennie explained that she and Chris were “thrilled” with the news – although their children were not “fully surprised”.

The actress told the publication: “It just feels really nice, we’re so over the moon.

“The thought of adding to our family mix and chaos was the best Christmas present, I’m really excited for 2023 – it’ll be a special one.”

However, Jennie admitted that the name of her unborn child will more than likely have a link to Coronation Street, like her older children.

Jennie says her unborn child will more than likely be named after a Corrie character

She said: “It just kind of happened, so I think it’ll probably be the same, Hilda was a family name for us and we loved it, but Hilda Ogden is an absolute icon and I am a big fan, so I love that it is a nod to that. Jean Alexander, who played Hilda, sadly died before Hilda was born.

“I can probably guarantee that whatever the name we choose, it will have been a character in Corrie, I don’t know how to avoid it.”

However, Jennie says she and her husband will not be finding out the gender of their unborn child as she says “it’s not relevant”.

Although her house is set to get even busier, the actress joked that she may not be stopping at three children as she “loves being pregnant” and understands the hit TV show 22 Kids and Counting.

Jennie’s character Fiz tied the knot with her childhood sweetheart Tyrone Dobbs over the Christmas period in heartwarming scenes.
