EastEnders fans couldn’t hide their heartbreak after Kat Slater remained by fiancé Phil Mitchell’s side after the dramatic shooting of DCI Keeble.
The unhinged copper took Kat and her son Tommy hostage as her vendetta against Phil hit boiling point, however, things took a turn for the worse when she was accidentally shot by Kat.
During Thursday’s episode (January 5), Keeble bled out on the floor before she was convinced by Phil to finally bring their bitter war to an end.

Later, still reeling from the fact she had just shot someone, Kat and Phil had an emotional chat before she agreed to stick by her fiancé, despite everything he had put her through.

As Alfie appeared in the doorway, he witnessed Kat and Phil declaring their love for each other.
Seeing them together, Alfie revealed he was finally giving up on the thought of a reunion with his ex-wife – who he is still very much in love with.
“I’ve made by bed, Alfie, and now I’m going to lie in it,” she said, before Alfie told her: “I’m done. I give up, Kat, on us.”

Alfie noted that if Kat is willing to stick by Phil after everything then even he knows he is “flogging a dead horse”.
A broken-hearted Alfie demanded Phil treat Kat how she deserves, before telling the mother of his children that he hopes she doesn’t regret her decision.
Taking to social media to share their devastation, one user sobbed: “Kat and Alfie over forever.”

“Wrong choice kat, Poor Alfie Wishing kat walked away for good. Kat was incredible tonight in tonight’s episode. #EastEnders,” added a second.
Another person penned: “Alfie saying to Kat he’s giving up on them “[crying emoji] [broken heart emoji] #EastEnders.”
“Kat and Alfie belong together. I’ve never believed in Kat and Phil #EastEnders,” exclaimed someone else.
Echoing these thoughts, a fifth shared: “C’mon writers Kat’s meant to be with Alfie NOT PHIL. #EastEnders.”
