BBC Breakfast Naga Munchetty hits out at co-star for 'not bringing cheer' in weather row

BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty demanded a change from the show’s weatherman Chris Fawkes after claiming his report wasn;t “bringing the cheer.”

Naga introduced the weather segment by stating she’d be “petrified” of the news of a “big storm coming” before switching to Chris for his weather report.

But Naga was less than pleased with the image Chris had used to portray the weather on Saturday (7th Jan) morning and quickly demanded he change it.

“I think that picture needs to change because it is not bringing cheer,” she stated.

In a bid to keep the newscaster happy, Chris changed the image with ease, adding: “Just for you Naga,” swapping the image of gloomy grey skies for a clear cloudy day with a colourful rainbow in the background.

Chris then changed his report altogether, saying: “Bright weather on the way!”

After conducting his scripted weather report for viewers, Naga thanked Chris for making the change for her.

“I love that picture change,” she told Chris gratefully. “Much appreciated. I promise you, I love that.”

“Just for you Naga,” Chris quipped again.

“I’m sure other people appreciated it too,” Naga reassured.

Despite Naga’s wishes for sunny weather with a glimmer of rainbows, Chris revealed that the weather was further from what she wanted, but promised there’d be “better weather on the way.”

Later on in the show for another weather segment, Chris called out Naga for “complaining,” introducing his segment with a picture of a beautiful sunset instead.

“Well Naga was complaining just half an hour ago so I thought I’d put a cheerier picture!” he said.

Naga’s orders come after Friday morning’s weather forecaster Matt Taylor walked off set after Naga demanded he “step away” from the shot.

Matt signed off his segment with: “We start the weekend on a mild note, so there is lots of rain around. The full moon is out, it is in full force.”

Naga teased: “I liked the view when you stepped away from the camera.”

Luckily, Matt saw the funny side of the jibe and leaned into the joke by stepping off-screen.

“Much better,” Naga said. “Bye, thanks, Matt. See you later.”
