Ricky Gervais physical shape is so bad he could soon do gigs sat on a commode

Comedian Ricky Gervais has vowed to perform on stage even when his body breaks down – and could do gigs sat on a commode.

Gervais said that his back pain and his physical shape are so bad, he may soon need to be helped on stage.

The award winning After Life and The Office creator reflected on performing in the future during live shows through pain.

His solution is to be hooked up to a red wine IV drip while sitting on a wheelchair fitted with a commode.

Gervais, 61, relishes doing stand-ups, but is aware that the physical demands are getting tougher.

He said: “I go, ‘I have got to stand up’. Do you know what I mean? I love stand-up.

“I love doing stand-up but standing up is the worst bit of it, as I have got a bad back.

“So, I think soon I’ll just be on a commode. It’ll be a little blanket on me, I will be going, and they won’t even know.

“There’ll be a nurse with the drip. They will think its blood but it’s red wine.

“And then now and again, I’ll just go, ‘Empty it!’. That’s how I see my future in stand-up.

“You’ve got to have a dream.”

It comes after the comedy legend was embroiled in a rift with James Corden, who was accused of stealing The Office star’s joke on The Late Late Show.

Ricky called out Corden on social media, tweeting a clip of him telling the joke which was used by the comedian during his stand-up comedy show, Ricky Gervais: Humanity in 2018.

Corden has since apologised, explaining: “Inadvertently told a brilliant Ricky Gervais joke on the show last night, obviously not knowing it came from him.

“It’s brilliant, because it’s a Ricky Gervais joke. You can watch all Ricky’s excellent specials on Netflix. J x.”
