Winter Love Island's new £1.2million villa ‘next to jail holding serial killers’

The brand new £1.2million Love Island villa overlooks a prison that houses murderers and serial killers, it has been reported.

This year’s contestants will apparently be able to see the jail in the distance from their luxury South African pad.

The hit ITV2 show is getting ready to return with a brand new series where the latest batch of sexy singletons will be looking for love.

However, it has been reported that the show’s brand new villa is next door to a jail where Nelson Mandela once served a jail term.

According to The Mirror, the luxury paradise will have a view of the jail which also apparently houses serial killers.

The prison, Drakenstein Prison, is on the outskirts of Cape Town in South Africa and is famous for being where Nelson spent the last 14 months of his 27-year sentence. The anti-apartheid activist was eventually freed in February 1990.

The prison has also housed murderers like the triple axe-killer Henri van Breda, who in 2018 was found guilty of killing his parents and older brother.

Easier this week it was reported that Love Island bosses have upped their security measures for the new winter series.

The ITV2 dating show has been hit with security breaches in the past – but this year the team aren’t letting anyone get too close to the new singletons heading into the villa.

A source has revealed to The Sun how they intend to keep everyone safe.

The Ludus Magnus villa is protected by high voltage gates, which will be fully manned by trained guards on the perimeters.

A Love Island insider has claimed that they plan to make Ludus as secure as possible, while also making sure the contestants aren’t scared and remain relaxed and comfortable.

The insider told the publication that there is a hotline connected to the local police station and private armed response companies, adding: “If any threat is larger than expected, the heavy cavalry would be on their way in seconds”.
