Love Island's Tanya Manhenga 'forgot' about application for ITV2 dating show

Love Island’s Tanya Manhenga will be bounding onto our screens on Monday, January 16.

Tanya is one of the first islanders to join the series alongside nine other hot new singles ready to try and find the person of their dreams – but she nearly missed her opportunity.

Speaking to Daily Star and other press, Tanya explained that she’s always been a huge fan of the show but after being single for a year and a half she considered taking part.

She said: “I knew the dates were not working. The boys were boring. It just wasn’t working. So I was like, ‘Actually what about looking at Love Island and see if it actually works,’ so I started an application.”

Tanya said she then started up an application and filled out her first and last name and then I just had to add a video at the end, so I thought, ‘I’ll do that later’.”

However, the beauty said she then completely forgot about the application – and it wasn’t until she had a phone call to ask if she was still interested.

Tanya jumped at the chance to continue her application and it worked well as she’s landed a spot in the original cast.

The beauty is now gearing up to make her entrance in next week’s launch show and be catapulted into the spotlight as she tries to find love in the villa.

While it’ll be her first time on reality TV, it won’t be her first time being in the public eye, with Tanya having modelling credits with many brands including Boohoo.

And when she’s not modelling, she’s at university studying biomedical science.

But everything is going on hold for a potential eight weeks as she prepares to couple up with one man next week and starts her journey to the final.

She’ll be joined by four other girls and five guys for the launch of the new series – but in true Love Island fashion, there are bound to be some twists and turns even as they kick off the series.

Love Island returns on Monday, January 16 at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
