This Morning’s Alison Hammond got emotional on the ITV show after she realised it was the day her mother passed away.
During Friday’s episode (January 13), Alison and co-star Dermot O’Leary were talking to therapists Nik and Eva Speakman about superstitions.
As it was Friday the 13th, the ITV team planned on helping viewers who were fearful of the unpopular and ‘unlucky’ date.

The presenting pair kicked off the show as they ‘laughed in the face’ of superstition as they poked fun at old wives’ tales by putting an umbrella up inside and chucking salt over their shoulders.
Though things took a more serious turn when Alison realised that it was the same day her mother Maria passed away from cancer after she lost her in 2020.
During a viewer’s phone call to the studio, Eva told the TV fan to try keeping a diary of good things and bad things that have happened in their life, and then note how many didn’t actually happen on the 13th.
However, this seemed to trigger Alison to suddenly remembered her own heartwrenching experiences with the date.
Alison said: “Do you know what? It’s just reminded me. It’s the 13th of January today isn’t it? It’s the day my mum passed away, in bed 13 and we buried her on February 13.
“It’s just literally come to me. And we did it on the 13th because I just thought ‘why not?’ so I don’t associate it with anything bad, it was a lovely funeral.”
“It’s literally just come to me, sorry,” she added while turning to Dermot.
Her co-star then reached out to hold her hand and told her: “It’s alright.”
Therapist Nik then asked if she was ok to which she simply nodded.
Alison’s mum passed away in January 2020 from liver and lung cancer.
The ITV star shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram just over a month later on Valentine’s Day.
She told her followers it was “a beautiful ceremony she would have been proud of,” as she spoke about her mum’s funeral.
Her mum’s death was then followed by Alison losing her father, Clifford Hammond, in Jamaica four months later in June 2020.
