Love Island's Gemma Owen back in the saddle at dressage competition ahead of new series

Love Island runner-up Gemma Owen has been spotted riding in a dressage competition ahead of the new winter series starting on ITV2 tomorrow (Monday, January 16).

The reality TV star, who was coupled up with Luca Bish on the reality-dating show last summer, is said to have placed 6th out of 23 riders on Friday, January 13, at Vale View Equestrian in Leicestershire.

And on Saturday, January 14, the daughter of Michael Owen took part in another class yesterday (14/01) where she placed first with a score of 70.29 in the Prix St George.

One video shows her performing an extended canter, and in separate footage she is impressing judges with specialist moves – including a collected trot, volte and half-pass.

The teenager and reality TV star was also snapped sitting in the stands aside mum Louise Bonsall, 41, watching the competition.

An onlooker said: “She came sixth place yesterday out of 23 riders.

“She seemed relaxed and happy – I think she was having a good time.”

Gemma, who is the daughter of former England, Liverpool and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen, came second in the ITV reality show last summer.

In November, shortly after being snapped on bonfire night with him, she split from Brighton fishmonger, Luca, who was her Love Island beau.
