Love Island fans were left fairly perplexed during the first episode after the male contestants entered the villa first.
The popular dating show returned to screens on Monday night (January 16) leaving fans gobsmacked by the changes.
But one disparity caught spectators off guard, as the boys headed into the South African villa first – which hasn’t happened for a number of years.
Heading straight to Twitter, confused viewers shared their thoughts.
One spectator asked: “Why are the boys going in the villa first?”
Another said: “It’s really not sitting right with me bringing in the boys first! why are they making it like season 1 again! I can’t deal.”
A third penned: “I dunno how I feel about the guys picking the girls first.”
“The guys getting to choose first immediately reminding of the time in season 1 when they did this and one of the guys stepped forward for every girl and got picked 3 times leaving like half the girls on the bench,” a fourth added.
Others seemed to be pleased with the changes and said it was a positive move.
One viewer chimed: “So the guys have entered the Villa FIRST … interesting!”
While another agreed: “This interesting the guys are going first and the girls pick.”
Unlike last summer’s show, Love Island still stuck to the original format, which allows the contestants who entered the villa first to step forward for an islander they are interested in.
Earlier this month, new presenter Maya Jama announced that there will be another twist on the show.
For the first time in the programme’s history, viewers will get the chance to pick the first bombshell to enter the show, with 25-year-old Ellie from Norwich and 23-year-old Tom from Barnsley competing for their chance to become the first contestants to shake things up.
The votes for viewers to chose who they want to enter the famous winter edition ended on January 13, with spectators finding out who will come in during the first week.
