Love Island's Ekin-Su makes cryptic dig as fans compare her to newbie Tanyel Revan

Dancing on Ice star Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu indirectly responded to fans’ comparisons to a brand new Islander as the 2023 series of the ITV dating show begins.

The 28-year-old took to Twitter to share her thoughts on individuality, tweeting: “Don’t ever compare yourself to others. You are not a copy, you are an original,”

“Craft your own individuality and sense of style of style! And just be yourself,” she concluded with a kiss-face emoji.

When north London hairdresser, Tanyel Revan, was first introduced to audiences, fans quickly compared her to Love Island 2022 winner, Ekin-Su, claiming that Tanyel was “trying to be” the reality star.

As Tanyel is shown to be caught in a jealousy rift with partner Kai Fegan, one fan wrote: “Not Tanyel tryna be the next Ekin-Su.”

A second added: “Someone said Tanyel is an Ekin-Su dupe.”

“Tanyel reminds me of Ekin-Su so much and I am absolutely fine with that,” another said, who was fond of the similarities between the two.

A fourth fan claimed that Love Island producers had purposely placed a “doppelgänger” of Ekin-Su’s in the show following her success last year.

“I don’t know if it’s just me but #LoveIsland always has a doppelgänger from another season. Cause why does Tanyel look exactly like Ekin-Su & she’s Turkish too,” they conspired.

Ekin-Su’s advice echoes the advice she gave during a Good Morning Britain interview ahead of the show’s start date earlier this week.

She told contestants to “go in and have fun” but reminded them to “be themselves.”

“I would say be yourselves,” she advised. “Do not copy anybody else, but be you, be original and have fun,”

“Don’t go in to play the game, literally go to find someone,” Ekin-Su added.

She then concluded her advice with an important message to the contestants who may be feeling too shy to approach someone they fancy.

“There’s no time in Love Island so if you fancy someone, run!” Ekin-Su laughed.
