Emmerdale viewers were issued a warning minutes before the latest episode of the ITV soap.
A voiceover message was issued to fans before Friday’s (January 20) instalment hit television screens up and down the country.
The ITV announcer explained that the show contained “upsetting and distressing” scenes.

After hearing the pre-show warning, viewers to to Twitter to air their thoughts.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Ooh we’re gonna find some scenes to be upsetting. We’re seasoned Emmerdale viewers for goodness sake.”
Another added: “Emmerdale time upsetting scenes mandys nails broke.”
A third person said: “Yay! Upsetting scenes! Every scene is upsetting in #Emmerdale.”
While a fourth person typed: “Even the announcer knows it’s upsetting to spend a Friday night watching #emmerdale.”
“YAY! ‘Scenes of distress some viewers my find distressing’ I should hope so!,” someone else wrote.
Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) was left feeling lonely in heartbreaking scenes as the Dingles appeared to be warming to Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) again.
The family turned their back on Chas after she cheated on Paddy with Al Chapman.
Mandy Dingle (Lisa Dingle) suggested throwing a Dingle bash with the out-of-date beer and Chas saw this as the perfect chance to make amends with everyone.
Later, as the Dingles piled into the bar, Chas was taken aback to see awkward Paddy arrive.
As Chas made amends with her family, Paddy was left feeling excluded.
With Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) occupied at the buffet, a gutted Paddy quietly slipped off to the backroom.
As Mandy started testing the karaoke mic, Paddy felt totally isolated from his once-extended family as he sat listening to them having fun.
Paddy also pretended to be at work when answering the phone to his worried dad Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) – but he was sitting alone in his car.
While some fans felt sorry for Paddy, others remembered that he once cheated on his wife Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry).
One viewer wrote: “I say karma, a cheat is cheated on”
A second Emmerdale viewer agreed: “Now you know what affairs can do to you Paddy, think back ?? Emily, Rhona, it’s payback time.for you. Made my day you’re left out on your tod.”
“Serves him right! He cheated on Rhona,” a third said.
“Why everyone saying poor Paddy? He cheated when he was with Rhona, so him and Chas are as bad as each other,” a fourth recalled to other fans online.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
