Brooklyn Beckham has been slammed for being “so detached from reality” after sharing a video online of a recipe idea that very few of his 14.8 million Instagram followers will be able to afford.
The 23-year-old eldest son of mega-rich couple David and Victoria Beckham recently announced that he want to pursue a new career as a chef.
It is a decision that has been greeted with plenty of support on his social media platforms but his latest culinary suggestion has cooked up a bit of a storm among some of his fans, who are struggling to make ends meet amid the rising energy bills and soaring inflation as the Cost of Living Crisis continues to bite hard in the UK.

Brooklyn’s divisive dish is fresh pasta with truffle cream sauce, complete with a generous serving of fresh truffle shavings on top.
He also captions the clip: “In my kitchen no such thing as too much truffle.”
Nor does Brooklyn shop at Aldi or Lidl, it seems.
A single truffle, of the cheapest variety, is likely to set you back £20, whilst others can cost three figures.
The video attracted a mixture of comments criticising and supporting Brooklyn’s recipe choice.
Of those firmly in the former camp, one argued: “You’re so detached from reality! Most people can’t afford to eat or heat their homes and you’re boasting about truffles and rare wines!”

Another reasoned: “My goodness that much truffle would cost the same as feeding a family for a week!”
And a third said: “I wish I could afford the idea of ‘no such thing as too much truffle’.”
From those that took a different stance, one declared: “The same people moaning at him for trying to do something would be the same people moaning if he was doing naff all! Yes, it’s a luxury dish, but I’m skint as anything and I’m not fussed what he makes, he’s not harming anyone by posting a cooking video so just let the poor guy do what he wants to do!”
A second said: “Can we not just enjoy the video for what it is? Luckily for Brooklyn he was born into & then married into wealth. I’m sure if we were in the same boat we’d be throwing some extra truffle on our pasta.”
Somebody, meanwhile, helpfully suggested a cheaper alternative.
“Anyone knows mushrooms are a great sub for truffle, this can be done cheap with some mushrooms. In any case some truffle infused oil or paste works too and that is not so expensive [and] lasts a long time as a kitchen staple,” they said.
Others were a little underwhelmed with the portion size, with one unimpressed video viewer admitting: “That’s 1 mouthful for me.”
