Dancing on Ice star Chery Baker admitted she had an “all-consuming fear” of skating after she suffered a serious injury while competing on the show.
The Buck’s Fizz star, 68, competed on the ITV talent show back in 2018 with her professional skating partner Daniel Whiston.
And it’s fair to say the songstress loved her time on the show as she gushed about how she made “friends for life” while battling it out for a place in the final.

But it wasn’t all plain-sailing for the blonde bombshell after she injured her right shoulder from a fall during a rehearsal session and “damaged something she couldn’t repair” which still causes her problems to this day.
Despite picking herself back up and continuing with the skating competition, she revealed exclusively to Daily Star that she still has a “phobia” of skating to this day.
She recalled: “It wasn’t for me, I was just too nervous of falling over and hurting myself again.
“I used to hate putting my skates on the benches, I really did. It used to fill me with dread putting my skates on.
“It became a bit of – not a phobia – but it became all-consuming. I used to see the brown signs on the road indicating an ice rink and my heart would sink when I saw it”.
After four weeks on the ITV show, the mum-of-two bid farewell to the ice rink after she was booted from the show in the dreaded skate-off against rapper Lemar and Melody Le Moal.
Cheryl continued: “It’s awful really, I let my nerves get the better of me and it ruined my chances in Dancing on Ice.
“The only thing that I hated was skating. After my first fall when I really hurt myself, I thought I’m really too old for it.”
However, the blonde beauty admitted that she is still glad that she took part because of the friends she made throughout her time on the programme.
She gushed: “I’m so happy that I did it because the cast that I met were lovely people and it’s been an amazing experience.
“My ice skating pro was Dan Whiston and we talk all the time. We FaceTime each other and we text each other and whenever I go up to Blackpool I stay with him.
We have a fantastic realtionship and I think I’ve got a friend for life in Dan, I really do. We had so much fun, I think that’s why I enjoyed the series so much.”
