Love Island villa in chaos as ITV stars struck down by mystery illness weeks into show

The Love Island villa has reportedly been struck down by a “nasty” stomach bug which has “torn its way through the set”.

The winter series of the ITV2 dating show kicked off just over two weeks ago, but it seems the South African villa has been hit with an unwelcome bug bombshell.

Alleged show insiders have claimed that islanders and crew members on the winter edition of the show have grown sick as a result of the bug.

A source told The Sun: “Love Island might look very sexy on the television but behind the scenes there has been a bug going around.

“As well as rushing to the Beach Hut for a chat, the islanders have also been dashing off to use the loo.

“It has been pretty rough for some of them. Some of the production team have also been affected by the sickness bug.”

The insider added: It has torn its way through the set and the aftermath has been less than appealing.”

They added that the cast have still been going “all out” to attract a partner, but the bug has given them a “dose of reality”.

Stomach bugs are common and cause vomiting and diarrhoea but often go away within a few days.

It comes as farmer Will Young revealed on Monday night (January 30) that Tom Clare shared a secret smooch with Ellie Spence on the terrace.

He dropped the bombshell on co-stars Jessie Wynter, Shaq Muhammad and Tanya Manhenga on the terrace.

Will says: “I have had a lot on my mind today. I got told a little bit of information and I don’t know what to do with it.”

Tanya asks: “What was that?”, with Will answering: “So basically, Ellie pulled me today and said yesterday that she kissed Tom out on the terrace.

Tanya and Jessie gasp in shock, but Will says: “Don’t make it a big deal.”

Daily Star has contacted ITV for comment.
