Sex Pistols' John Lydon slams This Morning hosts for 'lousy' introduction

  • Sex Pistols singer John Lydon ruffled some feathers while appearing on ITV’s This Morning after he described his introduction on the show as “lousy”.

The 67 year old, who is best known to fans as Johnny Rotten, appeared on the daytime programme to promote his new single which he has dedicated to his wife who is currently suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

But as presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield spoke about his achievements before introducing him via video link, John wasn’t best pleased with their portrayal of his life.

Making sure the interview didn’t completely steer off course, Phil exclaimed: “Do your intros, do your intros!

“How would you like to be introduced?” He questioned.

Hesitating slightly, John replied: “As a superstar. Johnny Lydon.”

But as Holly and Phil laughed at how short his version of his intro was, John appeared to be back on the presenters’ side.

As they all giggled, John replied: “I don’t know, I mean you’re dead right. I never accepted titles anyway. I mean what the hell.”

John’s new Eurovision bid song is dedicated to his wife Nora, who is currently battling with the memory loss disease.

Speaking openly, John described what it is like to see his wife live with the condition.

He said: “It took me four years to do the lyrics to the song. Alzheimer’s is an enormous problem, at the moment it’s incurable and I struggle to find and keep a relationship with Nora and me.

John became emotional on the show

“The song, it tells you not to ask lots of questions and to be happy for them. It’s a love song, with huge tragedy in it and the message that love does conquer all.

“Music is fantastic it organises her brain!”

Reflecting on their relationship, the I’m A Celeb star broke down in tears.

He added: “At this time in our lives, we were imagining doing nothing.

“That’s not the case anymore, she requires 24 hour attention and I don’t mind it now, due to the amazing life she’s given me.”
