Love Island star exposes secret way Islanders can communicate on ITV show

Love Island’s Billy Brown says there is a secret way Islanders can communicate with one another.

The 2022 Casa Amor star said that Islanders can message each other undetected on their villa mobiles.

However, admittedly, he didn’t ever feel the need to do so while he was on the show – but looking back, thinks it would’ve been a good idea.

Billy, 23, told us: “So, with your phone, basically no one messages anyone in there, ever, it just didn’t happen.

“You just get a little bling off the producer and you say ‘I’ve gotta text’.

“But we didn’t ever text each other – we just talked to each other in person – but saying that, it would have been a good idea if you wanted it to be a secret and didn’t want anything aired. It would definitely be a good way around it – that’s a good idea actually.”

But do producers go through their phones?

He explained: “We take funny photos and they go through them and post them on Instagram – so, yeah, I guess so…

“We were trying so many different things to hack into the phones to use the internet but it wasn’t happening.

“But I loved not having a proper phone though. It was weird coming out and getting my phone back – for two days, I didn’t touch it. I hated it.

“I was so used to having no one annoying me and looking at someone else’s life on Instagram – you could just focus on yourself.”

Billy also revealed that thinks the new Instagram ban could hold back some contestants since ITV has decided to put a pause on the singletons’ social media accounts for the first time.

Talking about ITV’s new move, Billy said: “I’m not the person to go in there for the Instagram side of things that’s not how I am but other people might, and for that to be taken away I’m not sure if that’s fair.

“As obviously when you’re in there, whoever is taking control of your account shows your personality as they share old photos and answer questions while you’re in there.

He continued: “It’s a good way of getting who you are across to your fans and if you can’t have that they’re never going to know you until you’re out.

“It makes sense to get to know someone through their Instagram but it might be clever as after the show people may be more interested.”
