Love Island fans have come up with some rather unusual theories about the ITV2 dating show over the years.
The winter version of Love Island is back on our screens with host Maya Jama at the helm, which means a fresh troop of sexy singletons are cracking on in the villa.
But it also means eagle-eyed fans have been brewing up more theories about the series – quicker than islanders can make their morning coffees.

Daily Star has dug up the wildest Love Island theories from over the years, including cloned islanders and cursed beanbags.
Winning couple theory
Every year, one lucky couple are crowned the winners of their series after testing their relationship over the last eight weeks of villa drama.
The winning couple are voted for by the public and scoop up a a huge cash prize of £50,000 – but whoever gets the box with the money in can choose to split the hefty sum or to steal it all for themselves.
But last year, fans grew convinced that whichever couple stands to the left of then host Laura Whitmore during the big reveal will be crowned the champs.
And in fairness, the theory has proved itself right on six occasions, including when Millie Court and Liam Reardon won the show in 2021.
Cursed beanbag
Even narrator Iain Stirling has backed the popular theory that the yellow beanbag in the villa is cursed – as well as many of the islanders themselves.
While the brightly-coloured beanbag might look like a comfy spot for an islander, fans reckon whoever sits on it ends up getting booted out of the villa or embroiled in bitter villa rows.
Davide Sanclimenti became a victim last year as he ended up in a furious spat with Ekin-Su where he branded her a “F****ng actress.”
Ekin later accepted his excuse that it was the beanbag that caused the argument.
Josh Le Grove was warned by Paige Thorne not to sit on the beanbag, but he vowed to “break the curse”.
However, he ended up calling things quits with Danica and got kicked out of the villa days later.
And this year, farmer Will Young found himself in trouble after sitting on the yellow beanbag as Tom Clare ended up stealing Olivia Hawkins from him in the recoupling.
Dami Hope’s ‘clone’
Fans spotted a major editing blunder last year which made it look like Dami Hope was in two places at once.
The hunk could be seen chatting to the lads in the firepit, but another ‘Dami’ seemed to be milling around by the kitchen.
Baffled viewers rushed to chat about it on Twitter, including Dami’s official account which wrote: “LETS DEEP THAT WE SAW TWO DAMIS ON THE SCREEN THE OTHER DAYY. THEY CLONED HIM!!”
Another joked Dami must have been using magic as they wrote: “First a clairvoyant and now a magician. Dami is in two places at once!”
Maya illuminati theory
Perhaps one of the strangest is the claim that Love Island host Maya is part of the Illuminati – but she was quick to rubbish the theory.
Maya posted a pic from the airplane as she touched down in South Africa where she could be seen throwing up an ‘OK’ hand gesture.
But one fan thought it was a giveaway sign she was part of the infamous elite society and they commented: “All these Illuminatisigns to be famous, you must sign your soul over… no respect at all now.”
But Maya denied the claim as she wrote: “Honestly it’s an ‘ok’ sign. You lot need to low it [laughing emoji]. I’ve not signed anything, you can rest.
Cursed boat dates
Another wild theory is that boat dates on the show are cursed, because couples who take to the sea end up splitting shortly after.
One example is 2021 couple Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish as they ended up calling time on their relationship shortly after their voyage.
It seems there must be something in the water, because in 2019, Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea broke up soon after their boat date and winning the series.
In 2017, Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes fell victim to the alleged boat curse, and most recently Paige Thorne and Adam Collard did too.
Missing islanders
A common concern among fans comes when certain islanders don’t get much screen time so it seems like they’ve gone ‘missing’ from the villa.
This year, viewers wondered where Aussie bombshell Aaron had gone during the explosive Zara and Tom drama.
One wondered if he’d already been booted from the show as they tweeted: “Was Aaron booted? Where is he? #LoveIsland.”
A second said: “Is Aaron still in the villa? I’m worried.”
Luckily, the Aussie hunk hadn’t gone missing as he appeared soon after.
The couples are ‘fake’

This conspiracy theory suggests that couples are contractually obliged to stay together for six months after the end of the series.
After the 2018 series, Kaz Crossley and Josh Denzel, Megan Barton-Hanson and Wes Nelson, and Zara McDermott and Adam Collard split which led to fans asking if they had to stay together for six months after the series.
Perhaps it would be to maintain the show’s credibility so that fans don’t think islanders go on the show for the fame and money.
But a Love Island spokesperson slammed the claim, insisting: “This is absolutely not true.”
