Love Island fans left furious as they slam 'pointless' format shake-up

Love Island fans were left bitterly disappointed after Friday night’s episode (February 3) as it was left on a cliffhanger.

Host Maya Jama thrilled fans with her beauty when she returned to the villa at the end of the episode in a figure-hugging gold satin dress.

But Maya was there for business and not leisure as she asked everyone to gather round the fire pit to hear the important news she had to tell them.

She revealed that the public had been voting for their favourite male islander and that the three lads with the fewest votes were Spencer, Aaron and Kai.

And in another twist, Maya said: “Two of you boys standing here will be dumped from the island tonight, and that decision is not down to the public. That decision is down to the girls.”

Girls like Olivia Hawkins looked gutted to have the responsibility dumped on them, but fans were left just as upset when the episode came to an abrupt end with no teaser trailer for Sunday night.

They rushed to complain about the cliffhanger straight after the end of the episode.

One complained: “Why is this even a cliffhanger??”

A second said: “What a rubbish cliffhanger.”

A third agreed: “Bye there wasn’t any need for cliffhanger.”

Many fans felt it was obvious that the girls would vote to save Kai from being dumped as he’d spent much more time in the villa than bombshells Aaron and Spencer.

One tweeted: “Why’d they even bother leaving that on a cliffhanger we all know they are going to save Kai”

Another agreed: “How pointless what that cliffhanger? we all know Spencer and Aaron are going home.”

Kasi has had much more time to get to know the girls, and he shared a smooch with Liv earlier in the episode, so the ladies might be inclined to keep him in so their romance could blossom.
