Grammy's awkward wardrobe malfunctions – nip slips, dress rip fail and 'boob squeeze'

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards is set to be another extraordinary night, as stars from across the globe come out in their droves to honour and celebrate those in the music industry.

And for some celebs, the Grammy Awards is a chance to showcase their spectacular outfits on the red carpet.

But throughout the years, a number of famous faces have suffered blunders with their choice of clothing while either on or off the star-studded carpet – which causes them to be front page news the following day.

So as the celebs prepare to take on the award ceremony once again, Daily Star has taken a look back at some of the biggest wardrobe malfunctions to date.

Kim Kardashian

In 2015, reality star and business mogul Kim Kardashian graced the red carpet in a golden Jean Paul Gaultier gown.

Chosen to wear by her then-husband Kanye West, Kim 42, looked incredible as she turned heads on the star-studded carpet.

Despite the positive attention, Kim later admitted that the dress was too thin and was extremely easy to rip.

Speaking openly to E!, the mother of four said: “Basically, my pocket fell off — the whole pocket fell off.

“When I sat it ripped and we were sewing and safety-pinning.”

Taylor Swift

At the 2021 Grammy Awards, singer Taylor Swift was the talk of the town as she took home a gong for Album of the Year for her eighth studio album, Folklore.

The prestigious award made her the first woman to win that particular category three times.

But despite her win, Taylor’s delicate dress also caused controversy when it appeared to have a tear under the arm.

After accepting her award at the end of the night, Taylor posed for snaps on the red carpet but her custom-made Oscar de la Renta dress, featuring pressed flowers ripped under her right arm causing her to be front page news the following day.

Camila Cabello

Havana singer Camila Cabello looked sensational on the red carpet as she attended the award ceremony in 2018.

Wearing a tightly-fitted red silk gown, the star oozed with confidence as she showed off her curves.

But while being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest on the carpet, Camila had to quickly turn away from the camera as she told the former American Idol host, “hold on, I have to squeeze my boobs.”

Fixing her dress, Camila ensured a dreaded accident didn’t take place.

Cardi B

Wardrobe malfunctions don’t just happen on the red carpet, they can also take place during the ceremony while an artist performs on stage.

Rapper Cardi B experienced this mishap in 2019 when she performed her hit single Money in front of millions.

While spectators were clearly entranced by her performance, many failed to notice that she actually suffered a minor wardrobe malfunction mid-song.

Wearing a transparent all-in-one catsuit, Cardi B accessorised the look with a diamanté necklace.

But as soon as she got up from a bedazzled piano which she laid on, the jewellery appeared to disappear from her neck.

However in true showbiz style, the show must go on and Cardi B certainly did so with her jaw-dropping performance on the night.

Lady Gaga

In 2015, Lady Gaga suffered at wardrobe malfunction at the 57th Grammy Awards.

The 36-year-old singer made a quick recovery as she graced the red carpet in silver gown by designer Brandon Maxwell, who has styled looks for her on multiple occasions.

The frock included a thigh-high split as well as a plunging neckline.

But as she posed up a storm for the paps, the Bad Romance singer experienced a nip slip- exposing her cleavage in the process.

Beyoncé

Award winning singer Beyoncé caused quite a stir when she took to the stage with her husband Jay Z to perform their hit single Drunk In Love.

Captivating the audience with her sultry vocals in 2014, the 41-year-old singer also put a raunchy performance, while wearing a see-through corset ensemble.

But fans were left speculating whether something had wrong, when they seemingly saw a nip slip from the star mid-performance.

Judging from the sketchy images taken from fans on the night, the now mother of three appeared to have nipple covers on.
