“We’ve had Covid, the cost of everything and even a war.
“I’m still cracking gags and doing my DJ sets. I want to play at Glastonbury. Ive no plans to retire. Making people laugh is the best feeling in the world.”
Paul is preparing to travel the length and breadth of Britain to raise a smile with a host of live DJ and comedy shows.
The former BBC kids star said: “When you are on stage and hear the laughter you think, ‘I’ve done that, I’ve created it’.”
Paul, who lost beloved brother and co-star Barry to cancer four years ago, believes the announced resurrection of funny TV classics like Frasier and Fawlty Towers will help lift the gloom.
He said: “It’s great news John Cleese is bringing Fawlty Towers back. It was fantastic. I think good comedy is needed more now than ever.”
It comes after a Sky poll found 42% of us cannot remember the last time we had a good giggle.
It found 95% of Britons think a chuckle is great for our mental health.
Paul added: “You can’t keep the smiles off the faces of us Brits for long.”
It comes after it was revealed that Paul has reportedly pocketed almost £40,000 flogging personalised video messages.
During the short clips, actor Paul will wish fans a happy birthday, quote the Chuckle Brothers’ famous catchphrases or simply just say hello.
The comedy star charges fans £41, but will also promote businesses by recording a promotional clip for £259 on websites Cameo and Celebs VM.
Paul has more than 800 five-star reviews on the sites, including: “Thank you so much Paul. You made an 18th birthday 1,000 times better. Your energy put a smile on everyone’s face, as it has done for years.”
