Ellie Goulding and Tom Grennan have finally addressed the backlash from what has been branded ’t*t-gate’ after last night’s BRIT Awards.
On Saturday (February 12), Ellie and Tom took to the stage to present the gong for Best Newcomer – but things soon went awry. With Ellie wearing a stunning PVC dress featuring the outline of a bust and six-pack on, Tom asked if her boobs “were real”.
He told her: “I love what you’re doing. These are your real boobs?” as Ellie responded: “No, these are not. Mine are a lot further apart sadly. I wish!”

Tom awkwardly apologised, and the segment moved on.
Now, however, Ellie and Tom have confirmed that the joke was actually thought up backstage before the event, and nerves simply got the better of them.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday (February 12), she explained: “A word on Brit/t*t gate…
“I was wearing a beautiful breastplate, thank you all for appreciating it [winking emoji]. My friend @Tom_Grennan is 100% an ally and we were having a bit of fun.
“No offence taken, no harm intended – and no other interpretations necessary x.”
Tom further added: “Love ya @elliegoulding. What started as a joke between Ellie and I before we went on stage came out all wrong.
“The nerves got the better of us, but that does not excuse what was said, and I sincerely apologise to anyone who was offended – that’s not me at all, and I am sorry x.”
Their fans soon rushed to support them in the replies section, with one writing: “Tom, anyone that is a fan knows that you’re one of the good ones. Those that claimed to be offended then went on to attack you and that offended me actually.”

Another added: “Well done to both of you for addressing this and hopefully putting it to bed.”
“Glad it wasn’t taken too seriously and wasn’t meant in a mean way! I think a few of us got bit defensive of our queen!” someone else posted.
It wasn’t the only awkward moment at last night’s BRITs, as Wet Leg yelled: “F*** the Tories!” and were immediately censored, while host Mo Gilligan got Lewis Capaldi’s name wrong, instead referring to him as Sam Capaldi.
