Beyoncé’s put on a killer display at the Super Bowl in 2013.

After her electrifying performance, where she was joined by Destiny’s Child, the New Orleans Superdome was plunged into darkness for 34 minutes from a power outage.

Many people blamed Queen B for the blackout because of her high powered performance however it was later confirmed that even though her show was electric, the blackout was not her fault.

This was definitely one of the most scandalous moment in the history of the Super Bowl.

At the 2004 show Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake took to the stage to perform and gave meaning to the world “wadrobe malfunction.”

In the show Timberlake pulled off part of Jackson’s outfit, briefly exposing her right breast in front of a TV audience of 140 million viewers.

Even 19 years on it’ still unclear what actually happened, or what exactly went wrong.

In 2009 Bruce Springsteen headlined the show.

The show had a harrowing two seconds where Bruce decided to do a dramatic power slide as he got lost in the moment of his show-stopping performance,

Unluckily for the poor camera man he had Bruce’s crotch launched at his face, as well as millions of viewers around the world, who had forgotten to remove their 3-D glasses.

As well as the embarrassing nipple gate incident at the 2004 Super Bowl show, Kid Rock also caused a bit of controversy.

Kid Rock jumped on stage, ready to perform, wearing an American flag over a white undershirt.

Kid Rock apparently cut a hole in the centre of an American flag, put his head through the center and wore it as a poncho.

He then threw the flag on the floor causing people to question whether this is respectful to the American flag.

Princes phallic guitar

In 2007 Prince performed a mesmerizing half time show.

Prince’s iconic performance included a guitar solo during the “Purple Rain” segment of his medley in which his shadow was projected onto a large, flowing beige sheet.

However the siloette looked a bit rude and people were quick to pick up on this.

Many thought that Prince’s guitar looked like a phallic symbol however a NFL spokesperson said it was a bit of a “leap of the imagination” and it’s “just a guitar.”

Red Hot Chilli Peppers unplugged

Fans noticed something about their performance

Red Hot Chilli Peppers were in hot water after their performance with Bruno Mars at the Super Bowl in 2014.

Footage from the show revealed that their instruments weren’t plugged into anything, making people question whether the whole show was faked.

Flea, the Peppers’ zany bassist, took to the band’s blog to explain this after the show: “When we were asked by the NFL and Bruno to play our song ‘Give It Away ‘ at the Super Bowl, it was made clear to us that the vocals would be live, but the bass, drums, and guitar would be pre-recorded.”

“I understand the NFL’s stance on this, given they only have a few minutes to set up the stage, there a zillion things that could go wrong and ruin the sound for the folks watching in the stadium and the t.v. viewers.

“There was not any room for argument on this, the NFL does not want to risk their show being botched by bad sound, period.”
