Chris Brown supports ex-girlfriend Rihanna at Super Bowl 2023 despite 'complicated' past

Chris Brown, 33, has shown his support for his ex girlfriend Rihanna, 36, after she took to the stage for a stellar performance at the Super Bowl half time show.

The pair had a rocky relationship but that didn’t stop him sharing a picture with a love heart and prayer emoji to congratulate his ex on her performance.

The singer, 33, posted a story on his Instagram – simply writing “Go girl” with a red heart and prayer emoji.

In 2017 Chris Brown released a documentary where he called himself a “monster” after he admitted to beating Rihanna during their relationship. They dated 2007 to 2009.

In his Chris Brown: Welcome To My Life doc he also spoke about his sexual past with a women he once worked with.

Rihanna didn’t know about the incident, and Chris confessed: “She hated me. After that, I tried everything. She didn’t care, she just didn’t trust me after that.

“From there, it just went downhill because it would be fights, it would be verbal fights, physical fights as well. Mutual sides, it is the first time I get to say anything.”

He continued: “I still love Rihanna, but I’m just going to be honest – we would fight each other, she would hit me, I would hit her, but it never was OK. It was always a point to where we talk about it like, ‘What the f**k are we doing?'”

Chris has shown his support for Rihanna in the past, when she announced she was pregnant with her first child he took to social media.

After she gave birth in 2022, he wrote “Congratulations,” with a pregnant woman emoji as well as the same prayer hands and red heart.

This comes after a representative for the award-winning singer has confirmed that she is pregnant with her second child with rapper A$AP Rocky.

Neither A$AP nor Rihanna have reacted publicly to the news. However, rapper A$AP was captured supporting his partner during her performance in Arizona.

It comes after Rihanna performed the halftime show without introducing another performer, prompting fans to suggest that the baby was her “surprise guest”.

Elsewhere, Adele, Nicki Minaj and Billie Eilish wer just some of the celebs to attend Super Bowl 2023.
