Rhino has won this year’s series of The Masked Singer – and it was none other than Busted singer Charlie Simpson behind the mask.
The grand final of the hit ITV1 show kicked off on Saturday night (February 18) and saw Rhino, Fawn and Phoenix battle it out to be crowned this year’s champion.
Since the programme’s fourth series kicked off on New Year’s Day, detective panel Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan have been speculating which celebrities are hiding behind the elaborate disguises.
And they were finally put out of their misery when host Joel Dommett told Charlie to take off Rhino’s mask at the end of the show.
Asked how it feels to win, Charlie said: “It was amazing to make it into the final. The whole thing seems like a bit of a blur looking back.”
Revealing his favourite performance of the series, he said: “I think Use Somebody by Kings Of Leon was my favourite song to sing. It is a song that I feel very comfortable performing and know very well. I also knew the words better than most of the other songs, so I felt as though I could just enjoy performing it.”
Charlie beat runner-up Phoenix who was unmasked as fellow rockstar Ricky Wilson from Kaiser Chiefs.
And it was All Saints singer Natalie Appleton who took off the Fawn mask in third place.
Over the past six weeks, Charlie has floored fans and judges with his performances, including his rendition of Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars and Pink’s hit track Try.
In Rhino’s first VT, a sign appeared that said “Welcome to Cobalt” which also said that there was a population of 158,967 people, and the rules were “no spittin’, no thievin’, and no shoutin'”.

Three arrows showed up behind the character, suggesting the number three must mean something.
Following his first performance, Rhino said the riddle: “I’m chief of this town, and happy go-lucky. But one of you guys might think I’m quite muggy.”
Another clue was: “Being a sheriff, sometimes it can feel like you are a puppet of the law and when that happens, you have to learn how to cut the strings.”
The character Rhino also said they had “tough decisions” to make, but had to have courage and trust their instincts.
