Love Island's Marcel Somerville's grief at losing four family members in three weeks

Love Island veteran Marcel Somerville has been flooded with support from friends and fans after he opened up about losing four of his family members in the past month.

The 37-year-old, who featured on the third series of the ITV2 reality dating show, took to Instagram to revealing that the losses he’s had to handle have been a “slap in the face”.

Although it was unclear which family members he had lost, the star wrote in his caption: “This year has had so many highs and lows and it’s only February.

“I’ve lost four family members in three weeks and it’s really slapped me in the face.”

Marcel told his followers that he plans on “enjoying every moment” with his nearest and dearest, writing: “Life is short, you never know what’s around the corner.

“So for the short time we are here fill your life with love and adventure!

“Do the things that make you happy and enjoy every moment you can with the ones you love. Exclude all the negativity from your life and live for the people that bring positivity to your world.”

Former X Factor star Jake Quickenden commented: “Sending love bro always here if you wanna have a cuppa round mine x.”

One fan responded with: “Condolences to you… .sending all positive energy right back at you, you got this,” while another said: “All the best Marcel, your resiliency will pave the way and inspire others around you I’m sure…”

A third added: “Sorry for your losses. I know exactly how you feel, I lost a family member in January.”

It comes as Marcel recently urged fans not to speculate about whether someone was pregnant, implying that he and his wife Rebecca Somerville, 27, had experienced baby speculation while going through a miscarriage.

The dad-of-one warned that some comments on social media could “hurt someone without intention” and they may “trigger some emotions”.
