Jeremy Clarkson forced to apologise after calling 'angry' villagers 'morons'

Jeremy Clarkson was forced to apologise to locals after being told the residents of his village were “really angry” with comments he made.

The 62-year-old explained that an online Chadlington community board had essentially called him “the devil” and he wanted to diffuse the situation and avoid any residents turning up to Diddly Squat “with pitchforks”.

“The lady from the parish council says those that are angry, are really angry. Like, really angry,” he said before holding a Q&A meeting with residents.

Jeremy started by admitting that the farm had caused problems for locals, saying: “We were completely overwhelmed by what happened when the show first aired.

“Traffic and mud and chaos and speeding. Absolute nightmare, I agree,” he sad. “So how can we make this look great and bring people to the area so they can spend but not spoil anybody’s life in the village?”

Despite showing sympathy for the locals, one didn’t buy Jeremy’s words and hit back at the TV star.

“You have shown no sympathy or empathy with the people who live in the village,” the angry local said.

“You’ve described us as morons. You said, ‘Every village has one moron, I have six.’ I don’t want to be called a moron and I think you should apologise for that,” they demanded.

Jeremy agreed, replying: “You don’t sound moronic at all and your points are valid.”

But he then added: “Some of the points raised on the West Oxfordshire District Council website, however, were moronic.”

Jeremy went on to read out comments from the forum, which slammed the farm for not doing its job, which made no sense to the former BBC presenter.

He read out loud: “‘That lambing barn has never been used for lambing, nothing is being produced on that farm’?

“These things are silly things to say because obviously we do produce things on the farm,” he stated.

The meeting concluded with Jeremy agreeing to make the site tidier and looking into traffic control around the farm.

He also offered locals VIP passes and a discount in the shop.
