A Place in the Sun guests abruptly halts viewing on 'hidden gem' pool side apartment

A Place in the Sun guests brought the viewing to a halt despite being shown a “hidden gem” property with large communal pool.

House hunters Graeme and Donna were looking to spend a maximum budget of £85,000 to buy a holiday home in Orihuela Costa in Spain.

Despite not having been to the area, they were keen to start their next chapter in the sun-drenched hotspot.

They had one contender of a lovely yellow house with private garden, but host Leah Charles-King was excited to show them a “hidden gem”.

She took them to Santiago de la Ribera, where the two-bed townhouse offered easy access to the communal pool.

Leah explained: “You get more for your money because not many people know about it and it’s so close to the beach.

“The house is just by the pool and it’s on the market for £85,000.”

But the tides changed when they entered the house.

She asked Graeme and Donna: “Come on in, straight through – open plan living-dining room and kitchen. Talk to me, go on i can see all over your faces.

Graeme clenched his jaw and said: “Yeah I think this isn’t what we were expecting from the outside.

“It’s not as bright. Probably not where we would see ourselves with family.

“Absolutely nothing wrong witht the house itself but I suppose it’s just a vibe that we’ve got.”

Wife Donna joined: “I think compared to the yellow house that we saw earlier, the outside space isn’t as cosy. I feel very overlooked.”

Leah asked if the couple wanted to see the rest of the property and Graeme shook his head, saying: “No, I don’t think it would give us any different vibe in any other room.”

Viewers shared their thoughts after watching the episode, with one noting: “They complained about the house being dark, and liked the one that’s hardly got any light at all in the living area!”

Another said: “Sorry the pool is far too close to the property, plus having riff raff outside your gaff using the pool!”
