The One Show's Alex Jones forced to aplologise after awkward Kym Marsh blunder

The One Show’s Alex Jones was left red-faced when she slipped up during an interview with Kym Marsh.

The Coronation Street star was appearing on the show alongside her daughter Emilie Cunliffe were appearing on the show to promote their new musical.

The pair will be starring alongside one another in the Take That musical Greatest Days as it heads out on the road.

As Alex – joined by co-host Emma Willis – grilled the pair she slipped up as she suggested they are playing mother and daughter in the show.

They are in fact playing the same person in different stages of their life – as Kym quickly corrected Alex leaving her red-faced as she apologised for the mix-up.

While she did correct Alex, Kym wasn’t fazed by the mistake as she explained the forthcoming role and excitedly discussed it with Emilie.

Alex said: “They are both in Greatest Days, The Take That musical, playing mother and daughter.”

Kym then corrected: “No we’re playing the same person!”

Realising her mistake Alex apologised: “Sorry I got it wrong. The same person but a younger and an older version.”

Kym then explained the project further: “So the musical is essentially about a journey about a group of friends who are obsessed by a boyband…it shows what happens with them from being teenagers to being older.”

Viewers watched adoringly as they chatted, taking to Twitter to heap praise on Kym and Emilie for their appearance on the show.

Another added: “Kym and Emilie just come across as so lovely, I’ll definitely go watch their show.”

A third viewer said: “Can’t believe how down to earth Kym and her daughter seem, what a gorgeous pair too.”
