Big Brother's Aisleyne Horgan Wallace blasts Love Island as she says show is 'dead'

Big Brother star Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace has taken a swipe at ITV’s Love Island and said the show is “dead”.

The 44 year old, who rose to fame on the Channel 4 reality show in 2006 failed to mince her words as she admitted that the dating show is “too young” for her to be interested.

While speaking exclusively to Daily Star about the Big Brother reboot she said: “Love Island is dead hun! It’s time for us hun!”

She continued: “I mean it’s fine but it’s not my era, it’s not my thing. It’s too young and it’s too contrived.”

After ten years on Channel 4 and another seven years on Channel 5, Big Brother came to an end in 2018.

But in 2022, ITV2 made the shock announcement that the popular reality show will be returning to screens across the UK later this year.

Trying to ensure the show keeps it’s authenticity, the managing director of media and entertainment at ITV told Variety: “The key to Big Brother is to keep it like it was in its golden period – to have it more interesting, intelligent, upmarket etc. than other reality shows.

“It’s a great addition to have in the autumn period.”

Although the start date of the reboot is looming, the show has not yet confirmed who the new presenter will be – with former hosts Davina McCall and Emma Willis ruling themselves out of the running.

Davina previously said: “I had the best 11 years of my life. Whoever does it, I will be supporting it with every fibre in my body. But I don’t think it’s me.”

Meanwhile Emma, who presented the series for five years while on Channel 5, said: “I loved my time on the show, and I very much kind of said goodbye to it back then because we thought it was over.

“I don’t tend to go back. I like to move forward.”

Despite no confirmation of an official host, reports claim that AJ Odudu is said to be “in final talks” to present Big Brother on ITV.

A source told The Sun: “AJ and ITV are still ironing out details in her contract but she has told a lot of people the job is hers.”
