Reunited boyband JLS have revealed how the flatshare between Marvin Humes and Aston Merrygold was broken up – by a ghost.
After shooting to fame on The X Factor, the mates shared a London pad where they had a spooky encounter.
Strictly Come Dancing and The Masked Singer star Aston said the pair used to live in a former asylum, which was renovated and made into flats.

He said: “People would say they could hear screaming – throughout the estate you could hear screams. It was definitely an eerie place, a weird one.
“My room used to face the stairs and I remember once I was certain Marv came in one night, came up the stairs and stood in the hallway.”
Believing they had a conversation, Aston continues: “I was half asleep like, ‘OK, bruv?’ then I heard the door go. That was when he used to sneak about with (now wife) Rochelle.
“The next day I was like, ‘Did you come back last night?’ And he was like, ‘Nah.’”
The freaky incident sent Marvin racing back into the arms of This Morning presenter Rochelle as he left Aston to deal with the spirit alone.
Marvin, 37, says: “As soon as I started hearing stuff I was, ‘Ast, I’m gone.’ He’s a braver man than me. I was out of there and like, ‘It’s all you now.’”
The chart-topping stars are heading out on a new tour in October – the spookiest month of the year – and will play Cardiff on Halloween.
After announcing they were getting back together in 2021, Covid restrictions kept JLS in a bubble during 29 arena tour dates.
It meant no partying – only poker games between themselves were allowed on the tour bus.
While the relaxations will allow backing dancers again, the happily married four-piece are now more scared of their wives than ghosts.
Aston, 35, says: “I’m not sure how our wives would feel about getting women on stage this time around.
“We’re going to try to take every bit of energy we’ve put into every JLS show before and bring out the youngsters in us, take the maturity from us and squash it into one show.
“Get out in the crowd as much as physically possible because we know it can be taken away, so it’s about being out there and having fun.”
And there’s no chance of another saucy link-up with Durex, who teamed up with the band on a condom range in 2010.
JB Gill, 36, laughs: “It’s been a while since we had a quirky item of merchandise. We might be able to turn it over to the fans and see what they’d like but the condom-range ship has sailed.”

With wives and kids, going on tour nowadays is a very different experience for JLS.
The group even allowed their children to join them on stage during a London O2 Arena show in 2021.
Oritsé Williams, 36, tied the knot in Jamaica last September in a small ceremony and is planning a UK celebration this year with his bride Kazz Kumar.
He said: “We’ve still got the final event, which is friends and family, which we’re excited about. And we just bought a house and have been cleaning and gutting 24/7. I’ve not stopped with brooms, sponges and soap liquid.”
JB, who has his own farm, added: “Work on a farm never ends – someone’s got to pick up those buckets, wellies and other stuff I leave behind.
“It’s difficult being away from home but now it’s easier because the kids are older and able to be part of it.”
