Dancing on Ice winners revealed as Nile Wilson makes show history with impressive skate

Nile Wilson and his professional dance partner Olivia Smart have been crowned the winner of ITV’s Dancing on Ice.

Emotions were running high during the 2023 final as Joey Essex, The Vivienne and Nile showcased their skating skills to become this year’s champions.

But after a nail-biting final, which saw only Nile and Joey take on the Boléro, it was Olympic gymnast Nile who lifted the Dancing on Ice trophy after receiving the most votes from viewers.

After over a million votes were received by the British public, presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield congratulated the winners alongside judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

Sharing his thoughts on his epic victory, the 27-year-old told Holly and viewers at home: “It’s meant so much!

“I want to thank everyone that voted back home, I really appreciate it.”

He added: “I just want to say, if Dancing on Ice is anything other than entertainment, we’ve got eleven human beings all different shapes and sizes stood on this stage tonight with an allocated time to get good at something and we’ve proved that we can do that.

“So what an inspirational show! If you put your mind to something and you work hard you can achieve anything you want.

Fans at home also shared their reaction to Nile’s extraordinary win and took to Twitter to air their thoughts.

One social media user wrote: “I love joey to bits he’s a lovely guy but I’m so happy nile won he has been incredible throughout and was the best tonight too.”

Another penned: “Congratulations to Nile Wilson for lifting the #DancingOnIce trophy. A brilliant final and well deserved win.”

A third wrote: “Congratulations Nile & Olivia, well deserved they have been a joy to watch every week. I’m so pleased for them. Joey & Vanessa and The Vivienne & Colin gave a lot to this series too. That’s it for another year then, thanks to all involved in bringing us this series.”

While a fourth added: “Yessssssssss! Well Done Nile and Olivia on winning @dancingonice my faves from day one!! Well Done Joey on coming runner up!!!”

Earlier in the show, Nile made Dancing on Ice history – becoming the first male contestant to do the jaw-dropping headbanger.
