Dan Walker's show flooded with complaints after late Tom Parker name blunder

BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Dan Walker’s Channel 5 show has recently come under fire due to a blunder involving Tom Parker.

The former BBC Breakfast host interviewed Siva Kaneswaran, Tom Parker’s bandmate, on Tuesday night as the Dancing on Ice star spoke to Dan about his tribute to Tom, who passed away last March following a brain tumour.

However, the interview received complaints after a production error occurred.

During the chat, a blunder was made as Tom’s name was spelt incorrectly, causing a wave of anger amongst fans.

Siva was visibly emotional throughout the interview, saying, “I’m getting emotional ten seconds into the interview.” He went on to describe how he wanted to deliver a beautiful performance for Tom and create a lasting memory for his wife and children.

Siva further explained how, during the performance, he was gasping and thinking of Tom.

“When his voice started [in the song Siva skated to], if you look at the opening scene, I’m literally gasping, thinking ‘Tom, get me through this.’”

Siva added: “We’re still grieving it’s not even been a year yet. It is just to make sure to keep communicating for everyone who loved him.”

Several viewers took to Twitter to voice their concerns, with one user stating: “@mrdanwalker, I was quite surprised to see Tom Walker instead of Tom Parker during your interview with @SivaKaneswaran. How could someone get that so wrong?”

Another user echoed the sentiment, saying, “@5_News, if you’re going to report on someone as amazing as Tom Parker, please get his name correct. Still lovely to see our brilliant Siva paying tribute to Tom, who is missed so much.”

A third viewer couldn’t believe the error, stating, “Can’t believe they got Tom’s name wrong!!!”

Despite the blunder, Siva’s interview was a touching tribute to Tom, with many fans praising his words.

One fan commented on Instagram, saying, “Lovely interview Siva…I think you should give Strictly Come Dancing or I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here a try once you’ve recovered from Dancing on Ice. You would be great on them as you were on Dancing on Ice. Hope you have a lovely rest on holiday…x”.
