Lorraine ‘still struggling’ after losing voice live on-air with co-star ‘on stand by'

Lorraine Kelly admitted she’s “still struggling” after losing her voice live on-air during Friday’s episode (March 16).

The 63-year-old Scottish presenter faced “issues” Friday morning as she lost her voice ahead of her self-named talk show.

During GMB, the screen cut to Lorraine so she could give a preview of what was to come, but they were met by her holding up a sign instead.

The Scottish host’s sign read: “I’ve lost my voice. Hilary can you take over?”

Kate asked: “Hilary are you there?”

The screen cut to him as he said: “I am. And while we help Lorraine get her voice back I can tell you what she’s got coming up.”

When Lorraine’s show kicked off, the telly legend cracked on, speaking in a more croaky voice than viewers are used to hearing.

“I have been taking tonnes of medication,” she told viewers.

However, later on in the episode, Lorraine revealed how she was still “struggling” while talking to Ross King – live from LA.

“I’m still struggling, it’s terrible,” Lorraine admitted, when Ross referenced her croaky voice.

“I’ve got Dr Hilary here on standby in case my voice goes all together.

“He’s been so good and poor Hilary, he is the doctor for everybody”.

At the end of the episode, Lorraine handed over to This Morning’s hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Croaking her way through the chat, Phil cheekily told her: “Go suck on a fisherman’s friend.”

To which Lorraine replied: “I definitely will” leaving Holly and Phil sniggering.

It comes as last month, Lorraine was sent home from work moments before going live on air after battling a nasty bug.

As a result, fellow ITV favourite Ranvir Singh filled in for Lorraine with almost no notice.

At the time, Kate Garraway and Ed Balls said it was the first time in a long time, maybe even ever, that Lorraine had missed her show.

The TV star took to her Twitter to confirm she was sick before “suddenly being attacked” by an unknown illness.
