Corrie spoilers: Gemma dealt devastating blow as she goes wedding dress shopping

It is all go on the cobbles this week as wedding plans swing into action.

As our exclusive pictures show, Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) goes wedding dress shopping for her upcoming marriage to long-term love Chesney (Sam Aston) in Coronation Street.

But it isn’t all plain sailing when Gemma confides in brother Paul that the wedding venue is demanding an upfront payment, or her date will be cancelled.

Keen to help, Paul places a call to the bank to make Gemma’s wedding dreams come true.

But will it all pan out and will they make it down the aisle?

Gemma and Chesney have been struggling to afford their wedding during the cost-of-living crisis and they’ve been working hard to save up enough money for their dream day.

Gemma was earning through her childminding job with Chesney working at the kebab shop, with the pair pooling their savings in an old tub.

And their relationship faced some turbulence when it emerged Chesney had been taking money from the tub in order to kickstart his burger project ChesBurgers.

She accused him of putting his business plans ahead of their special day.

Gemma’s twin Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) stepped in to save the day when he offered to pay for the wedding, but he was hit by a truck driven by Carla Barlow (Alison King).

He’s been waiting on compensation for the accident as he has no income at the moment, although he’s been offered £15,000 by Peter (Chris Gascoygne) on behalf of Carla.

But Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) revealed he may not get the money he was hoping for, and things are looking even worse for Paul as his injuries from the accident may be worse than he thought.

He was referred to a neurologist by Dr Gaddas after admitting his hand hasn’t improved.

And when the neurologist tells Paul the problems he’s experiencing likely weren’t caused by the truck, Dee-Dee deals him a huge blow.

She tells him that if his hand injuries aren’t to do with the crash, she confirms he won’t get compensation for it.
