Phillip Schofield to be replaced by This Morning favourite next week in major shake-up

Phillip Schofield is being replaced by another presenter for next week’s episode of This Morning.

Alison Hammond will step in for Phillip during Monday’s episode of the popular ITV day time talk show (March 27), after the presenter made the announcement on Friday’s edition.

This Morning is usually hosted by Phillip and Holly Willoughby from Monday to Thursday, with Alison and Dermot O’Leary hosting on a Friday.

However, Alison announced at the end of Friday’s episode that she’d be sat on the This Morning sofa on Monday instead of Phillip, saying: “Guess what, I’m going to be hosting. Monday, 10 o’clock, see you there!”

The presenter also promised big names on the talk show next week, as she continued: “On Monday’s This Morning, Shirley Ballas will be here as she reveals why her latest project will be more competitive than Strictly.”

Co-presenter Dermot added: “David Domoney has all you need to know about getting your garden ready for spring.”

The presenter shake-up follows reports by The Mirror that Alison could potentially be lined-up as a successor to Holly on This Morning.

A source told the publication: “ITV bosses are clear they want Holly to return to This Morning next year.

“But while a question mark hangs over her future, there have been conversations about who could step in if she decided to go.”

The source added: “Top of that list is Alison. She has gone from being seen as a safe pair of hands to a real asset to the channel.

“And while her partnership with Dermot is seen as solid, there have also been conversations about other pairings – such as with Josie Gibson, who she was recently filming with in the French Alps.”

However, a source close to Holly told the publication that the presenter had “no plans” to leave the programme.

An ITV spokesperson also addressed the speculation around Holly’s future on This Morning to the publication, saying: “We do not comment on speculation about artists’ contracts.”
