This Morning star forced to apologise as she 'confirms' Corrie exit in huge blunder

This Morning star Sharon Marshall was quick to apologise after appearing to reveal that a Coronation Street star was leaving the soap.

The ITV soap expert made a major Corrie exit gaffe on Wednesday’s (March 29) This Morning during a chat with host Holly Willoughby and her latest co-star Joel Dommett.

Sharon was presenting her weekly segment which sees her tease what’s to come in Corrie, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks.

But she accidentally claimed that actress Jodie Prenger, who joined Corrie as Glenda Shuttleworth last year, was departing the soap already.

She said: “Ruth Henshall is joining in a gust appearance, safely, this will though mean an exit for Glenda Shuttleworth. Can I officially say on this sofa can we please have her back.”

But it wasn’t long before Sharon realised she’d made a mistake, so she took to Twitter to clear things up.

She tweeted: “I am the biggest idiot. The iconic Jodie Prenger is NOT leaving Corrie. Glenda is staying. I am so so sorry, I got my wires crossed. She is staying. She is fabulous! @thismorning.”

Corrie fans were relieved to hear Jodie wasn’t walking away from the cobbles, with one writing: “Fab news I was gutted when you said she was leaving.”

Another agreed: “Thank goodness for that. Love her character.”

A third wrote: “Thank god the best actress alongside Jenny and Daisy.”

Later on, Sharon followed up her tweet to confirm she’d got Jodie mixed up with Amy Robbins, who’d made a brief appearance in the soap as Daisy’s Midgeley’s mum Christina.

She added: “It was Amy Robbins who went who I also enjoyed very much. I got my wires crossed in the heat of live telly, so sorry Jodie (but thank God I said she was fabulous and should stay).”

Cruise performer Glenda, the sister of undertaker George Shuttleworth, has been helping Daisy cope with her horrifying stalker ideal.
