Paul O'Grady's daughter 'devastated' as she speaks out on late father's death

National treasure Paul O’Grady died “unexpectedly but peacefully” on March 28 – and now his daughter has now spoken publicly about her father’s death.

Sharon Mousley, 48, is the daughter of Paul, and was born after the TV and radio legend had a short relationship with work colleague Diane Jansen.

Born in May 1974, Paul was just 18 years of age when he became a father – but many fans were unaware that he had a child.

Although not widely spoken about until Paul’s passing, Sharon was far from a secret and had even appeared publicly with her comedian dad on several occasions.

Now, speaking out about the sudden death of Paul, Sharon has spoken of her devastation.

Speaking to MailOnline, the mum-of-two said: “What can I say? We are all devastated, I am, my mum is, everyone is. We loved him and we will miss him.

“We are all distraught.”

Sharon attended Buckingham Palace with her father in 2008 when he was awarded an MBE for services to entertainment, and at her wedding Paul gave her away.

Gushing about his daughter at the time of her wedding to her childhood friend, Paul said: “Sharon wore a lovely floaty pink dress – because she looks shocking in white. She looked like a Disney princess.”

Paul was reportedly close to Sharon’s two children – son Abel, 16, and daughter, Halo, thought to be around 14.

Close to his grandkids, back in December he wished grandson Abel a happy birthday when he took to Instagram.

Sharing a throwback snap to when Abel was younger, Paul wrote a caption which read: “This little monster is 16 today. Happy Birthday Abel love GanGan xx.”

Paul was only 18 when his daughter was born into the world

Paul sadly died last week when his husband Andre Portasio announced the sad news about the beloved comedian.

Andre wrote: “It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.

“We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.

“He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.

“I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”
