Ellie Leach is reportedly set to leave Coronation Street this summer, with plans for her to exit the soap as part of a big storyline.
Details of the storyline are still under wraps for the time being, however a source revealed to The Sun that Ellie, who plays Faye Windass, won’t be killed off by the show’s writers, leaving the door open for her to return to the cobbles in the future.
A source told The Sun: “Ellie’s been on the soap since she was 10 years old so it’s all she’s known, she sees the cast like an extension of her family. She’s sad to be leaving, but grateful that her character won’t be killed off. She’s going to have a go at trying other acting roles for a bit.”

The Daily Star have approached a spokesperson for the ITV soap for comment.
Ellie previously spoke to The Mirror in 2021 about being on the soap for a decade.
She said: “It is crazy to think it is 10 years. It has gone so fast but I also feel like I have been there my whole life. For what time I can remember, Corrie has been my life. As a child, you just can’t believe it. You don’t really know at that age what is happening.
“I definitely didn’t imagine I would still be here 10 years later. I am the type who doesn’t like to think too far into the future.
“I hope I am there forever. It is an amazing job and I love being there. I don’t see myself as different to anybody else. Obviously, I am on people’s tellies but I am no different to any other person. I’ve had people coming up in the street and they can’t think where they know me from.”
