TV presenter Gail Porter has opened up about her love life and how she isn’t “desperate” enough to pay for love.
The Celebrity Big Brother star has revealed that when debating signing up for dating sites, she soon decided not to after they asked her to pay.
This was for the celeb app Raya – which charges a premium rate for its famous users.

Talking about her love life exclusively to the Daily Star, Gail told us: “I’ve been single for a long time. Boyfriends are very expensive, not that I buy them, but I always seem to end up with the ones who don’t have a job.
“You have great fun and end of the night you’re left with the bill. I mean, I don’t mind getting half, but I’m hoping they say I’ll take half at least.”
She continued: “It was one of my girlfriends who said go on this Raya thing but I think I got it wrong as it’s for celebrities and I’m not really one of them.
“You had to write things about you and my friend was helping me and asked me what my fave TV show was, and I said ‘Meet, Marry, Murder’ and she said ‘That’s not going to go down well, Gail.’
She then said ‘Anything else you can say about yourself?’ and I said ‘I get up at 3 o’clock in the morning.’
“We soon realised no one was going to look at me twice, and then got to the end and they said you had to pay.
“I said ‘Oh forget it, I’m not that desperate. I’m not paying to get laid. I’ll just get another cat.”
“Or stick with hanging out in Soho and just dancing, I’m not bothered.
“I’m 52 this week and I’m quite happy doing my own thing, I have lovely friends, a wonderful cat and my daughter is smashing it, so I don’t need a man.”
The TV host spoke to us while promoting Virgin O2 Media’s new free data campaign, which she said would have benefitted her during her time being homeless.
Gail explained: “To have free data is an absolute lifeline for many people and I think ‘Wow, I wish I had that when I was homeless’. But I’m so glad it is happening now. I was sitting sometimes in Hampstead Heath on a bench and I just wanted to talk to someone and I couldn’t because I had no data.”
“I was always on my guard and was a bit nervous and pretty upset with myself. I thought ‘I’ve lost my hair, no one is hiring me for jobs, then I couldn’t pay the rent, and then I had nowhere to stay.
“My mum had passed away, my dad was living in a different country and I thought ‘Who do I ask for help?’ I had no idea.
“It got bigger and bigger and I was scared more about how I was going to get myself back on my feet and get a roof on my head for my daughter.”
TV personality Gail Porter has partnered with Virgin Media O2 and Good Things Foundation to raise awareness of the National Databank – where the 1000 th Hub has opened, providing free O2 data to people in need.. It comes as a third of Brits say they are only one pay slip away from serious hardship. To find out more, visit https://www.o2.co.uk/national-databank.
