Anthony Joshua calls out 'missing' BBC The One Show host after awkward message exchange

Anthony Joshua called out The One Show host Jermaine Jenas after a text message blunder on another show saw the presenter ask the boxer to fight.

As he joined Gethin Jones and Clara Amfo on the sofa, the boxer wasted no time in asking: “I’m wondering, where’s Jermaine?”

Clara and Gethin burst out laughing as Gethin tried to save Jermaine’s back.

“We probably need to explain that JJ,” Gethin said. “It was on Michael McIntyre’s show, he’s got your number on his phone and Michael McIntyre does the send to all function and you get a message, pretty much asking you out to a fight and your response is?”

“I said, ‘If you’ve got something to say come see me,’ so I sent him my location, he didn’t show up,” Anthony revealed. “It was a good laugh though.”

AJ wondered where Jermaine was hiding

“He saw that you were 12 miles away and he started sweating a little bit,” Gethin laughed.

It’s not the first time Jermaine has caused some light-hearted offence from The One Show guests.

Just last week he made a cruel dig at his co-star’s age during a conversation about pensions.Presenter Matt Allwright joined Jermaine and co-host Alex Jones on the show during a chat about BBC Watchdog.

The conversation about pensions quickly turned sour as Matt, 52, said to Jermaine: “You’ve got just four months to sort out your pension JJ.”

The 40-year-old host quickly snapped back and said: “Wow, I think yours is a bit closer than mine though mate.”

The pair continued to joke as Matt quipped: “How dare you! I love it, you’re absolutely right.”

However, Matt handed Jermaine and the rest of the crew behind the scenes a second low blow, saying:”This is so important if you are of legal pension age, like me, like you, like all of the camera team.”

Alex and Jermaine booed Matt as Jermaine added: “That wasn’t in the rehearsals!”
