A Place in the Sun buyers slammed for paying 'outrageous' price for apartment

A Place in the Sun house hunters have left viewers feeling outraged when they put in an offer for a bungalow.

Couple Robert and Thomas appeared on the Channel 4 programme with a budget of £83,000 to buy their dream holiday home in Spain’s Costa Blanca.

Host Lee Juggurnauth showed them five different properties in the region of Torrevieja and the two had narrowed their choices down to two properties – both with ample space to welcome their friends over.

The trio met the next day as Lee asked for an update.

Thomas said: “I think we both realised that we would be happy in both properties.

And Rob added: “We kind of made the decision, we are thinking more property five due to the location.”

Lee then reminded them the refurbished two-bed, one-bath bungalow with wraparound outside space was priced at £77,000 on the market.

Rob then made a move and said: “We were thinking a cheeky one… £65,000.”

Lee instantly commented: “Quite a cheeky offer, £12,000 less than the asking price but let me give him a call and see what he says.”

Despite being cash buyers, Robert and Thomas’ offer was rejected by the estate agent and was counter-offered at £70,000.

They justified their reason for the low offer because they also had their eyes on another property.

Thomas explained: “I think if it was the only property, then we would go £70,000 but it’s not, so shall we try £68,000?”

After a brief chat with the agent, Lee was happy to tell them that the offer was accepted.

However fans were not liking them much, with one saying: “Two outrageous offers there, but fair play.”

Another commented: “If I were the owner, I would tell them they can sod off! Pair off cheeky g*ts!”
