There aren’t many tougher than Hollywood hardman Steven Seagal.
The stony-faced martial artist, who turned 71 on Monday (April 10), punched and kicked his way to become a real-life action hero in the 1980s and 1990s.
The 7th-dan black belt burst onto the scene wielding guns and brandishing baseball bats in 1988 action classic Above The Law, launching his reputation as the ultimate tough guy.

But his macho persona was called into question after a stuntman allegedly gave Seagal a beatdown on set so vicious that he soiled himself, something Seagal himself has ardently denied from the outset.
Seagal starred and produced 1991 action flick Out For Justice, which sees veteran detective Gino Felino set out to avenge his partner’s murder.
Gene LeBell, dubbed the ‘toughest man alive’ and the ‘Godfather of grappling’, was the stunt coordinator for the film.
He’d reportedly earnt the title after coming out on top in a long list of dangerous feats – from brutal fistfights to wrestling bears.
While on set, Seagal apparently bragged about his “immunity” to being choked unconscious through his aikido martial art training.
LeBell allegedly wanted to put his theory to the test.
While the story has been disputed, Judo Gene was said to have placed his arms around Seagal’s neck.
When the actor said “go”, LeBell allegedly proceeded to call the Hollywood star’s bluff, choking him unconscious. Or so it’s claimed.
LeBell is even said to have choked the 6ft4 aikido master so vigorously that he made him lose control of his bowels.
While LeBell has never publicly confirmed the alleged encounter, he was asked about it in an interview with Ariel Helwani.
He said: “When we had a little altercation or difference of opinion, there were thirty stuntmen and cameramen that were watching.
“Sometimes Steven has a tendency to cheese off the wrong people, and you can get hurt doing that.”
Seagal on the other hand denies the story completely.
He reportedly said: “Either [LeBell] is a pathological liar or he had somebody making up these stories.”
The Hollywood hardman proceeded to explain his side of the story.
He added: “We were talking about doing moves and stuff like that and we were stretching.
“He wanted to stretch my back, and I kind of flipped over the top of him and said ‘thank you for that.’
“There was never any confrontation with him, ever. In any way shape or form.”
However, LeBell’s trainee UFC champion Ronda Rousey responded to the backlash and said that Seagal was in fact the one lying.
She said: “If [Seagal] says anything bad about Gene to my face, I’d have to make him crap his pants a second time.”
Despite the he-said-she-said, we may never get to the bottom of whether Godfather of Grappling made the Hollywood Hardman poop his pants.
