Matthew McConaughey has revealed that fellow Hollywood A-lister Woody Harrelson could be his real brother.
The actor was told that his mum knew Woody’s father and speculation around the extent of their relationship has led to questions about the acting pair’s family connection.
McConaughey also mentioned that their families often mistake one for the other when looking at old pictures of the pair.

Matthew spoke about their potential connection on Kelly Ripa’s Let’s Talk Of Camera podcast and opened up about his mother.
He said: “In Greece a few years ago, we’re sitting around talking about how close we are and our families, and my mom is there and she says: ‘Woody, I knew your dad…’”
“Everyone was aware of the ellipses that my mom left after ‘knew’. It was a loaded K-N-E-W.”
Her revelation meant that Matthew was driven to investigate his own family history and discovered that Woody’s dad was on furlough while his own parents were going through their second divorce.
Matthew then admitted that his world could be turned upside down in a matter of seconds if the speculation was true.
He explained: “Look, it’s a little easier for Woody to say: ‘Come on, let’s do [DNA tests],’ because what’s the skin in it for him?”
“It’s a little harder for me because he’s asking me to take a chance and to go: ‘Wait a minute, you’re trying to tell me my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing that?’ [I’ve] got a little more skin in the game.”
The performing pair are reuniting for a new Apple TV+ comedy series Brother From Another Mother, where they will play fictionalised versions of themselves as they try to merge their families on a ranch in Texas.
It is not known whether Woody and Matthew will address the real life situation in their new show.
McConaughey and Harrelson have been close friends for many years and have previously worked on projects together in the past.
The duo starred on EDtv and True Detective, while in real life both actor’s children call the other “uncle”.
