Corrie fans 'work out' Stephen's next victim as resident 'framed' for Rufus murder

Coronation Street fans believe Michael could be framed for the murder of Rufus.

Earlier in the week, an unknown person turned up at Rufus’ door and the businessman was pronounced dead during Friday’s instalment (April 14) of the ITV soap.

Suspicions have landed on serial killer Stephen Reid, who has been at odds with Rufus ever since he discovered he was drugging Carla Connor.

When Michael headed to Rufus’ house once again, he found the place swarming with police and was informed about what had happened.

Michael was left horrified when a neighbour of Rufus’ revealed she found him dead in the swimming pool, assuming he drowned.

Later in the episode, Craig approached Michael and questioned him about when he last saw Rufus.

The police officer said: “Mr Reid said you saw Rufus last night. I’m going to need to take statement. It turns out you might’ve been the last person to see him alive.”

As he sat down with Craig, Michael began to crumble and revealed he lied about seeing Rufus the night before.

Michael confessed: “I’m sorry. I didn’t see him last night. Rufus was offering me a job and I thought if I told Stephen if I turned down his job then I’d be back in his good books and he’d give me my job back.”

Fans later speculated that Stephen will either murder Michael, or frame him for Rufus’ murder.

One fan fumed: “I cannot believe that Stephen is now putting Michael Bailey in the frame for Rufus murder. Come on Corrie what the hell.”

“I think stephen is either gonna frame Michael for rufus murder or kill him off too,” speculated another viewer.

A third theorised: “Michael will end up getttng framed for rufus’s murder.”

Echoing this, someone else shared: “So Michael is going to do the math, work out Stephen is a killer and become a victim himself… #corrie.”

At the end of the episode, Stephen was confirmed as Rufus’ killer.

After lacing Rufus’ drink with drugs, Stephen pushed him into his swimming pool and held his head under the water until he drowned.
