Phillip Schofield’s This Morning future confirmed after weeks away from ITV show

Phillip Schofield’s future on This Morning has been confirmed after the star’s recent absence from the ITV show.

He’s reportedly returning to the show on 17 April with Rochelle Humes following Holly Willoughby’s news that she’s likely missing the show this week due to illness.

A source told The Sun: “Both Phillip and ITV agreed the time was right for his return.

“He is keen for normal life to return, and is very grateful for all the support from colleagues and friends behind the scenes.

“Everyone at ITV wants him back on air.”

The 61-year-old presenter has been off air for two weeks and fans have been anxiously waiting to hear about the host’s future on the ITV show.

Schofield’s absence came amid his brother Timothy’s trial.

The presenter’s brother was found guilty on 10 April and is due to be sentenced in May.

After the trial Phillip spoke out and said: “If any crime had ever been confessed to me, I would have acted immediately. As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother.”

Phillip’s return now comes after his co-star and best pal Holly Willoughby announced that she will be missing from This Morning for another week.

She took to Instagram to post the message with her 8.2 million followers and shared the disappointing news.

Willoughby typed: “Hi, just to let you know, I may be away for the rest of the week as I have shingles. I’ll be back as soon as I’m better. Huge love.”

Holly was previously off for two weeks during the Easter holidays and returned to host the show without her co-star Schofield for a week.

During Phil’s first week off, Holly was paired with Alison Hammond and The Masked Singer’s Joel Dommett on the mid-morning chat show.

However, during the second week Alison, Dermot O’Leary, Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle all stood in for the presenting pair.

As Holly as confirmed that she “may be” away for another week, it has been reported that Schofield will be joined by former The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes, a regular This Morning stand-in host.
