This week on EastEnders, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) have an important to question to ask their siblings.
The recently reunited couple ask Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) and Zack Hudson (James Farrar) to be the godparents of their son, Albie.
When working on a soap, actors can end up spending around 12 hours a day together, meaning they form close bonds which often evolve off-screen.

Stars of Coronation Street, Emmerdale, EastEnders and Hollyoaks have met lifelong friends from their roles on the soap, so much so that they choose their co-stars to play a vital part in their children’s lives.
Daily Star has looked at some of the actors who are godparents to their soap co-stars’ children.
Brooke Vincent and Ellie Leach
Brooke Vincent portrayed Sophie Webster from 2004 from 2019, while Ellie Leach has starred as Faye Windass since 2011.
Not only did they play stepsisters on-screen, the soap stars are even cousins in real life and Ellie, 22, is godmother to Brooke’s son, Mexx, born in 2019.
Opening up on the emotional moment she was asked, Ellie told Lorraine in 2021: “I am Mexx’s godmother, yeah, [Brooke] asked me on… she bought me a little bracelet, and on the inside it says ‘Auntie Elle, will you be my godmother?’
“She gave it to me on Christmas Day last year… not the Christmas just gone, the Christmas before. Literally, I couldn’t stop crying. I was like, ‘Oh my God,’ I couldn’t believe it.”
James Bye, Lacey Turner and Davood Ghadami
Martin Fowler actor James Bye formed a close bond with Stacey Slater star Lacey Turner and Kush Kazemi actor Davood Ghadami in the years the trio starred together on EastEnders.
Lacey, who still stars on the soap, once played Martin’s on-screen wife while Kush was Martin’s best friend before he was murdered by Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith).
The trio struck up such a great friendship that James, 39, picked his co-star’s to be the godparents of his third son, Hugo.
Speaking to OK! magazine, James gushed over the bond he shares with the duo and said he sees them more like family.
He said: “We are eternally grateful that they accepted.
“I have worked with them pretty much every day for more than five years and we socialise a lot outside of work, too.
“We’ve grown so close, to the point where I would call them family rather than friends. As soon as Hugo was born, I knew straight away that I wanted to ask them.”
The actor shares Edward, eight, Louis, six, and Hugo, three with wife Victoria and the couple are expecting a fourth child.
James also touched upon the moment he asked Lacey, 35, to be Hugo’s godmother.
“I took Lacey out for lunch to ask her. I was quite nervous and I was getting choked up asking her,” he revealed. “Bless her, she was really taken aback and said it was an honour.”
Malique Thompson-Dwyer and Owen Warner
Hollyoaks star Malique Thompson Dwyer made his debut as Prince McQueen in 2016 and met Owen Warner two years later.
The two became such good pals that Malique, 24, made Romeo Nightingale star Owen the godfather of his second daughter.
Malique welcomed Milan in 2022 and revealed the special role Owen plays in her life just before the 23-year-old headed into the jungle last year.
Michelle Hardwick and Amy Robbins
The bonds between actors can stretch further than specific soaps as shown by Michelle Hardwick and Amy Robbins, who made her Corrie debut as Christina Boyd earlier this year.
The Emmerdale actress, 47, made Amy the godmother of her second child, Betty, whom she welcomed in November 2022 with wife Kate Brooks.
In January, Michelle shared a snap of Amy, 52, cradling her baby girl and revealed she was Betty’s godmother.
She penned: “So 20 years to the day that The Royal first aired, my bestie popped round to meet her Goddaughter.
“When Amy asked me to be Godmother to one of her daughters a long time ago, I’d never in a million years think she’d be holding my baby girl and calling her Goddaughter too.”
She signed off the sweet post by saying: “We love you @amylouiserobbins.”
Darryl Edwards, Elizabeth Dawn and William Tarmey
In 1992, Darryl Edwards made his debut as Tommy Duckworth, the newborn grandson of Vera and Jack Duckworth.
And it seems the trio spent so much time together on-set that Darryl’s real parents grew particularly fond of the iconic soap couple.
This was shown by Darryl’s parents as they chose to make Elizabeth Dawn and William Tarmey the youngsters real life godparents.
