BBC Breakfast shake-up as Naga Munchetty absent from studio as star presents solo

BBC Breakfast was hit with a major format shake-up as Naga Munchetty was notably absent from the red sofa.

The presenter, 48, has been with the BBC since 2008 and is a series regular on the morning programme, helming the show every Thursday to Saturday with co-star Charlie Stayt.

But things looked a little different during the final instalment of the week as the team looked ahead to the upcoming King’s Coronation on Saturday (May 6).

Charlie, 60, presented Friday’s episode (May 5) of the BBC show solo, however Naga wasn’t missing completely.

She instead traded the Salford studio for a spot outside Westminster Abbey as the country prepares for the “biggest state occasion” in decades.

Friday’s meteorologist was Matt Taylor who was also preparing for the prestigious event, presenting the latest weather updates live from Buckingham Palace.

This isn’t the first time the presenters have left the comfort of the red sofa due to an important royal event.

Last year, both Sally Nugent and Jon Kay left the BBC studio to report live outside Westminster Abbey on the day of the Queen’s funeral which took place on 19 September 2022.

There will be plenty of famous faces in attendance at the King’s Coronation, including Love Island star Tasha Ghouri who managed to bag an invite.

The 23-year-old dancer shot to fame last summer on the hit ITV2 dating show – making history as the show’s first-ever deaf contestant.

Taking to her Instagram Story earlier this week, the blonde beauty uploaded a snap of her invite.

The invite showed that Tasha had been asked to attend a reception at Windsor Castle, the Coronation Concert and a reception before.

The reality star will be among the elite this weekend, with mega-stars like Tom Cruise, Katy Perry and Dame Joan Collins all set to attend.

After the Coronation, a star-studded concert will take place at Windsor Castle and will be broadcast by the BBC.
